Outdoor learning Co-Op and Homeschool game club-South Shore program

Dates: Tuesdays from January 18th – February 22nd

Time: 12PM – 2PM

This 6-week program is designed for kids of all ages who are interested in building, creating, and crafting.  Kids will get hands on and learn problem solving skills through fun S.T.E.A.M. based activities.

Children under five years old can participate for free.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in the weekly activity or use the gaming pc’s, virtual reality, and consoles to play the latest games and enjoy time with friends:

  • Creative thinking
  • Critical thinking
  • Learning how to follow directions
  • Developing patience
  • Improving fine motor skills
  • Increasing spatial awareness
  • Independent learning

There will also be active time in our field turf area where kids can move around, play, and blow off some s.t.e.a.m. 🙂

Week 1 – Growing an Indoor Garden – Gardens grow more than just fruits and vegetables; they can plant the seeds for early STEAM education. From planning a garden bed to counting seeds, this project hits all the marks.  Kids will see the seeds they planted sprout over the following weeks and be able to harvest in the final week!

Week 2Building a Hexbug Maze – In this fun activity, kids will use their creativity to construct a maze from wooden blocks and cardboard tubes for their hexbug to travel through.  No right or wrong answers here, just problem solving and fun!

Week 3: Exploring Minecraft – Perfect for first timers or more experienced minecrafters. Minecraft is like digital legos.  Kids will use their creativity to build a structure and share it with the group.

Week 4: Engineering with Marshmallow Shapes – Kids will develop engineering skills while constructing basic shapes out of toothpicks and marshmallows. They can build shapes using the marshmallow as a connector to hold the toothpicks together. Make a castle, or a car! Most importantly, get creative and have fun!

Week 5: Exploring Roblox – Kids will explore different educational and fun games in Roblox this week.  Everything from designing structures, running businesses, even playing hide and seek!  Roblox is so much fun for young children.

Week 6: Mario Kart Racing – For our final session we will have a fun and engaging Mario Kart racing tournament!  Kids & parents will both enjoy this event as they compete together as a team!  We will also harvest the gardens that we planted in the first week!
